I bought her silver broomstick book a while ago and while i was reading it i did not like it at all. It just put up a red flag in me and I returned it. I didnt know about her, and it was later that i found out a bunch of people didn’t like her. So trust your instincts.

@irridescentluna if you’re looking to find out more about the Witches/Wiccan pyramid Thea Sabin’s “Wicca for Beginners” has a nice explanation.

2:30 ($ilver Ravenwolf) you are a very smart witch for not trusting her, believe me…

Yay it’s my favorite too so far.

I have never read actual entire books by Gardner, though I would certainly like to once I am out of my house. I have read about him though, and I also disagree with some things.

Though I could be wrong, I think that is because as far as I know, the first “huge hit” Wiccan youtuber said she really liked a book called “Solitary Witch” by SRW, and it seems to me that SRW invented the idea of the witches pyramid. So… a lot of youtubers have been influenced to buy that book by the only author to talk about it. (as far as I know)

I know I keep hearing in youtube of others about the witches pyramid and I’m wtf is that and I have been studying for while, though i have never read SRW.

I like the Scott Cunningham book, too, it’s my favourite.

I mainly read British authors on Paganism, since I’m an Anglo-Saxon Pagan. I read a bit of Gardener, but I just found him sexist and disorganised, that’s only my opinion though, and if nothing else, we have him to thank for re-introducing Paganism back into mainstream religion.

American authors are quite hard to come by in English bookshops, so I’ve never come across Silver Ravenwolf. I could try Amazon, though.

    Blessed Be. xx

That’s okay, we can agree to disagree :)
At least you’re all for reading several books and not just books by her :)

  • ilovemark81388 said:

thanks… I try to encourage people to read books by more than one author… And if they are like me and can’t have the wall-full of Wiccan books they’d like to have, the internet can be a good tool to add to diversity of material… but again, you have to be careful with what you read

  • ilovemark81388 said:

    thanks
    hope you enjoy the book

  • ilovemark81388 said:

    that sounds very interesting :)

there is a book called the crafted cup by shadwynn and it combines the magickal religions like wica and godess worship and combines it with christianity, but be carefull about talking about this with outher wiccan because alot of wicacn will not reconize jesus a a holy being, but all in all a very good book its about 20 dollars and blessed be, and rember the wiccan rede an’it harm none, do as thou wilt…

I would have to disagree about Silver Ravenwolf, I’m a huge fan of hers, but definitely any and all of these books are useful when learning about the Craft. I’m an eclectic Wiccan, so I like to take things I like from certain aspects and variations of the faith, and leave some things out, mix and match. So I think it’s best to read anything you can get your hands on lol
    Blessed be

  • ilovemark81388 said:

If she is advanced, then she would have read a ton of beginners books, so her opinion would actually have more weight behind it. At least it seems that way to me.

  • moonlight02111 said:

Well you may have your opinion about sister Ravenwolf’s works but from the sounds of things you are more into Advanced Magick in which case its not really fair fro you to be judging Teen witch and etc cause i could see how to you it would be useless

I think you are on an awesome path and taking it correctly. What I mean by that is You are reading books and insted of taking it as truth you are questioning and willing to research to find more information. I wish more younger folks can take these steps insted of being a “one book witch”

we actually already have a great tight knit community full of many of us.. we talk to each otehr all the time. we make response videos. we write to each other. we talk about each other in our videos. we have each others backs. :)

The Wiccans need to organize a YouTube community (subculture) in the same way the athiests did. Their efforts have produced incredible networks and knowledge bases that continue create new interest from outside their own group. Its a really really good idea that promotes growth for the individuals here as well as for the community as a whole. Do yourselves a favor and talk to eachother much much more.

    same here :)

  • ilovemark81388 said:

Yess I can’t wait to get my hands on her books! Some day, when I’m finally out on my own, I know i’m going to have a ginormous book collection :D

Doreen valiente is a great author
    shes very…british traditional witchcraft
she worked with gerald gardener, so if your into BTW or gardenarian wicca, shes great
in my opinion shes less sexist than gardener

Good reviews, Teen Witch is horrible, and very hypocritical silver raven wolfs books are only useful for their spell, scott cunnighams book is brilliant. If your interested more in magick than wicca, i recommend Summoning spirits by Konstantinos, also the key of solomon, Eleven lessons on high magick, the goetia, the book of enoch and the grimoire of armandel, also hands on chaos magick by andreih vitimus. BTW your a cute little witch you know what they say if the broom stick fits fly it.

If you want actual examples, please view the links in the sidebar. I could write it out here, but it would take about 10 comment boxes. The links are right there. Enjoy.
